My goal is a robust home network that can handle the 100 or so devices (security cameras, phones, tablets, laptops, streaming TV, NAS, etc) easily and still provide adequate throughput for file transfers and such. Primarily, I believe, because I don't get into the technical details as much as say, a solutions architect or engineer would.

Interestingly (or ironically), I project manage the installation of network switching hardware and tapping solutions for large businesses but I have trouble mentally bringing that down to a home network solution. MikroTik PSE with af/at support is capable of powering both a Type 1 and a Type 2 PD. The aim of these standards is to reduce incompatibility between vendors.
